"My name is Roxane Rösner. I did my Bachelor of Biosciences and Master of Biotechnology both at the University of Münster, so I thought it was time for a change of scenery for my PhD position. Saarbrücken and the iSBio seemed a perfect choice to do so! I will join a project team, which aims to produce rare omega-3 fatty acids using the genetically modified yeast Yarrowia lipolytica. I am very excited about the chance to work on a project, in which we focus on the application of the generated scientific results to be industrially used to benefit everyone and supporting the change towards a more sustainable future – after all this is why I studied biotechnology in the first place.
So far, all my life and most of my holidays I have spent in the north of Germany and Europe. So, opting for Saarbrücken gives me the opportunity to change that and explore the south of Germany and the middle of Europe. New places always mean new people. At the iSBio I hope and am quite sure to meet people who share the same passion for science and research, with whom it will be fun to work with for the coming years.
